Actually, I do know the answer to this one.

You know how Andy’s page loads have been awfully slow of late? Well, Andy decided to let us host his site. But … suffice it to say that … things haven’t exactly gone well.

Now I think I have a handle what’s going on … but hang tight and we’ll get it back to right soon!

While the thought of an Andy O podcast has rattled around in our heads here at AO.net from time to time, we’ve never actually pulled it off. Now we’ve been done one better – Andy has rolled out the first episode of the ILikeAndy.com “I Like Podcast”, and it’s a lot of fun.

Highlights: Andy O talks with Andrew Peterson about AP’s The Far Country, how Andy O’s life “generally smells better” after he got married, and then finally they discuss this all-important question: if one of the Square Pegs were the final Cylon on Battlestar Galactica, which Peg would it be?

No word from Andy yet on how regular this podcast will be, but for the Andy Osenga fans out there it’ll be worth the wait each time.

Beta testing the site redesign

If you’re reading this post on the site itself (as opposed to in a reader) you’ll notice some site redesign has taken place. If you’re reading this in a reader, click the link already and come visit the site itself.

I’m calling it a beta because I’m sure we’ll find more things I want to fix, but it’s time for other people to take a look at it. Any comments on the new theme? Things you like/don’t like? Introducing the [andrewosenga.net] Forum

If you’ve hung around this place or Andy’s blog for long, it means you’re probably into one or both of these things: information and discussion. Andy’s blog has long been the focal point for learning what Andy’s thinking and discussing it with him. And we don’t want to take anything away from the blog. It’s a thing of beauty. However, as a recent post with over 70 comments at the time of this writing illustrates, comments on a blog are not necessarily the easiest way to conduct a longer, interactive discussion.

As the AndrewOsenga.com community has grown, it seems like we’re at a point where we could sustain some sort of other discussion area. As such, we are proud to introduce the [andrewosenga.net] Forum. We hope this can be a place that the AndrewOsenga.com community can carry on discussions about Andy’s music, concerts and projects, topics that Andy brings up in blog posts, or heck, pretty much anything else you all feel like discussing.

So please, head on over to andrewosenga.net/forum/, sign up for an account, and let’s continue the discussion.

Q: Who is running this thing?
A: Geof Morris is the brains behind this thing. Your other ao.net conspirators Chris Hubbs and Tony Kevin will be helping moderate for now.
Q: Won’t this draw traffic away from Andy’s blog?
A: We certainly hope not, and we don’t think so. We believe Andy will only be helped by a site that will build his fan community, and we think this forum will do just that.
Q: Don’t we already have something like this at rocksmyfaceoff.net/forum/?
A: Yes, there’s a healthy community interacting every day over at RMFO. Heck, two of the three of us behind this forum are usually involved over there. However, we have recognized that the community that has formed around Andy at his blog doesn’t overlap much with the RMFO community. Therefore, we think this is a good opportunity to help cement a new community focused on Andy and his music.

It was apparent to me even as I started cranking up [andrewosenga.net] that providing any real “insider” content will be difficult, in the greatest part because Andy himself is such a prodigious blogger; does it really count as “inside” information when he’s already written about it himself?

What I don’t want [andrewosenga.net] to become is a rehash of the news already on Andy’s blog. What I would like to see is more fan-supplied content; if you’ve got pictures from an AO concert that are worth sharing, let’s share them here. Maybe you’ve got a review of a concert or some other media mention. Maybe you’ve got other thoughts inspired by something AO writes on his blog. Whatever you’ve got that you think might be interesting, send it my way: chris.hubbs@gmail.com.
