A song off the upcoming Caedmon’s Call album is available on their Myspace page. While you won’t hear Andy’s voice on the song, you will hear him playing what he called “…of my favorite guitar solos I’ve ever played.” Sounds like this is shaping up to be a good album.
If for some reason you haven’t been keeping up with Andy’s blog, you will read here first that Andy is working on a new EP which he has written with a lot of input from his fans. He has also introduced the term “webground vocal” to the world – and he has received over 50 responses. Amazing.
So we found out from our good friend Geof Morris over at CaedmonsCall.net that Caedmons is now a member of the INO records family. Rumors were floating all over the place and last night they were confirmed for us. Also, the former band member Derek Webb has been involved heavily in the production of the new record Overdressed. He wrote songs for the record, recorded vocals for the record, and will be joining the band in Spring of 2008 to tour the record.
Now, one might get a little worried about Andy. “Didn’t Andy replace Derek when he left the band?” Good question. The answer is a good hearty “no.” Andy didn’t replace Derek but simply joined the band. Andy is now part of the family. In Derek’s words, “Its almost like, for me, reuniting with your family and while you were away, there was a new adopted brother… He’s a new part of the family, a new personality, but he’s part of it!”
This is a big step in the direction of Andy’s band. And for some of his thoughts, here’s the interview Geof did with Andy some weeks back about the new direction: [Photo by Geof Morris]
Andy announced on his blog yesterday that he will be joining Derek Webb for a short tour as Derek kicks off his new album The Ringing Bell. The shows seem to be centered around Tennessee and the Carolinas, but if you get a chance to see one, don’t miss it!
While we here at ao.net appreciate the irony of Derek and Andy sharing the same stage, we are thrilled to hear that they will be doing so; we just wish they’d come further west so we could hear them play!
In this world of “spaces” (MySpace, Facebook, YouTube, etc…), It is easy to get burnt out. I know I personally hate MySpace (for mulitiple reasons) so when I heard about Virb.com, I was very glad. Very glad to not see one advertisement and very glad to see how easy it was to have all the functionality of all the different “spaces” put into one. So yesterday, when I saw a friend request from new virb user “Andrew Osenga” It made it almost complete for me.
Yes, Andy is on Virb! Go check out his page! He has very many songs in his music player for free music listening enjoyment. Go make a virb, become his friend, and drop him a line! I know he appreciates line-dropping any day.
I don’t know, maybe Mr. Dwight K Schrute was right… Maybe this internet thing is just a fad… … but for now,
Though we mostly focus on Andy’s work as a solo artist here, we’d be much amiss if we don’t also follow his work with Caedmon’s Call. As his latest update on the Caedmon’s blog indicates, they are headed back into the studio this week to continue recording their upcoming album. Andy has been one of the primary songwriters for the album.
Today on his blog, Andy provides us with a new Drawing Board download – a song that may or may not be on the new Caedmon’s album, called I Don’t Know. Quite a song. If this song is any indication, the new Caedmon’s album will be a can’t miss album. Go get the download, and feel free to comment here!
