Spring tour is coming up soon

Things have been a little quiet in Andy-land the past month or so, what with AO going on blog sabbatical and all. But a quick look at the sidebar here (or at the [ao.net] group on upcoming.org, where Geof keeps track of all these things), you will see it filling up with tour dates.

That’s right, friends: come the beginning of February and stretching through April you will have the opportunity to see Andy in concert as a part of Caedmon’s Call. This is the Overdressed tour, which will include Andy and Derek Webb on stage together… a combination sure to provide guitar awesomeness not hitherto seen in the annals of history. (At a minimum it’ll be pretty cool.)

Andy has also noted that he plans to do a post-Caedmon’s-show solo set in at least one of the cities where the tour stops, and would love to do others if people can set him up.

Attending one of the shows? Leave a comment here or on the Tour Board over in the ao.net forum. Maybe some of us can meet up! I’ll be at the Lincoln, NE show on February 8. I can’t wait.

New Music!

A couple notes on new music from the Osenga:

  1. A song off the upcoming Caedmon’s Call album is available on their Myspace page. While you won’t hear Andy’s voice on the song, you will hear him playing what he called “…of my favorite guitar solos I’ve ever played.” Sounds like this is shaping up to be a good album.
  2. If for some reason you haven’t been keeping up with Andy’s blog, you will read here first that Andy is working on a new EP which he has written with a lot of input from his fans. He has also introduced the term “webground vocal” to the world – and he has received over 50 responses. Amazing.

Part of the Family

So we found out from our good friend Geof Morris over at CaedmonsCall.net that Caedmons is now a member of the INO records family. Rumors were floating all over the place and last night they were confirmed for us. Also, the former band member Derek Webb has been involved heavily in the production of the new record Overdressed. He wrote songs for the record, recorded vocals for the record, and will be joining the band in Spring of 2008 to tour the record.

Now, one might get a little worried about Andy. “Didn’t Andy replace Derek when he left the band?” Good question. The answer is a good hearty “no.” Andy didn’t replace Derek but simply joined the band. Andy is now part of the family. In Derek’s words, “Its almost like, for me, reuniting with your family and while you were away, there was a new adopted brother… He’s a new part of the family, a new personality, but he’s part of it!”

This is a big step in the direction of Andy’s band. And for some of his thoughts, here’s the interview Geof did with Andy some weeks back about the new direction: [Photo by Geof Morris]
